Today I want to talk to you about why you haven’t launched your website. And the truth about what’s really holding you back.

But first I want to share a story about one of my clients. Her name is Selina. And when we met she told me about the idea that she had for a new business that she wanted to create and bring to life. Selina is a mental health counselor.

She told me that she wanted to create a website that she could be able to help other mental health counselors open their private practice. She wanted to create an online space for her clients where they can be able to go through a detailed program on how to start their private practice from start to finish.

She had this idea back in 2017. If I told you this is a woman that is not scared of starting something and bringing it to life. She had already built a 6 figures business from scratch, so this new idea that she had was something that she was sure she could do and be successful in.

But here’s what happened.

She knew that to get started she needed to first create the website and the membership site in which she would be able to have her videos, worksheets, and process of how the program would be delivered.

So she started to figure out how to create a website. And soon she got consumed by all the different ways you can do it. And started spending hours searching, and watching youtube videos learning WordPress and how to connect the dots.

She soon got burned out and frustrated with everything that she had to get done that she decided to hire a designer to do her website. But because she was already so frustrated with all the work. She didn’t stop to do her research on this designer that she was hiring for her business.

So, in the end, it didn’t work out. The designer didn’t have the experience or knowledge to bring forth her vision. So she gave up. She never got to even finish creating the content for her program. She wasted a lot of time, money and peace of mind trying to create her business, but she never launched.

Fast forward to 2019, she always had the idea in the back of her head. She knew one day that she will get back to it. But she would always remember the headache that she went through and all the money she spent back in 2017 and was hesitant about trying again.

When we met and she told me her story. I instantly knew how I could help her. But at first, she was so scared to hire me because she was stuck in her past experience that didn’t work out. Through a discovery session, I showed her what my vision was for her site. And how hiring me can be the best thing to carry her dream business to life. So she decided to go for it.

And when we started working together we started from scratch.

We identified her branding message and voice.

We worked through the challenge of making a human to human connection with her ideal client.

And we created a strategy to be able to guide her ideal clients through an amazing experience for them to buy.

And now, that I took the most time-consuming task off her hands. She was able to use that time to actually create the amazing content that she wanted to deliver to her clients. She was able to create the videos, and even start marketing the launch of her new business right away.

Today Selina has an amazing website that finally launched to the world. And she’s already having clients interested in working with her.

Here’s what stopped selina from launching back in 2017.

  • Trying to do it all alone.
  • Not doing the research to find a designer that can really bring forth her vision.

When you try to do everything yourself without guidance and support you tend to spend a lot of time, money and peace of mind that could have spent working on what you should really be working on.

Trying to do it all alone and failing to delegate can leave your burned out, frustrated and eventually quitting.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about learning how to figure things out too. This is also about being aware of your own strengths and weaknesses. If you know that you’re not a designer and you don’t want to be one, then delegate that. The same goes for other parts of your business that you’re not strong with.

My second point is that you need to do your research before delegating. Part of being a great CEO in your business is being able to hire a team that you know can bring forth your vision. Because they have both the experience and the creative knowledge to meet or exceed your expectations.

So when you’re deciding to hire a designer to do your website please make sure that you know what to look for before hiring a designer.

So now, back to you. What’s holding you back from launching? Are you still trying to do it alone? Or have you not found the right designer that can bring forth your vision?
