Like you, I started designing my website on my own, because I didn’t have the money to hire a designer at the very beginning. 

Fortunately for me this was the one thing that helped me learn how to be a great designer. 

I’m not going to lie. It was messy and frustrating for me to learn the ins and outs of wordpress with youtube tutorials that weren’t really clear all the time. 

And because I loved the challenge of figuring all this stuff out, I became a web designer. And now, 7 years in my business I have clients all around the world that work with me to create websites that they are proud of.

Now, here’s what I don’t want you to do. I don’t want you to spend months trying to decide whether you should hire a web designer or not. 

There are only two factors that will help you make a decision on whether it’s the right time for you to hire a designer, or just figure everything out on your own. 

TIME AND MONEY

These two resources are the ones that can dictate on whether you choose to delegate the design of your website or DIY it. 

If you are just starting your business, maybe you don’t have the money to pay for a high-end designer to do your website. And you may desire to dive into creating your website on your own. If you do this, you may find out like me, that you like web designing and bang it out in a month or two. 

But if you then see that it’s not your forte, then you may want to reconsider working on just building a one-page website to get you started, until you can allocate the resources of saving money to hire a designer.

But here’s the thing… If you know something is not your zone of genius. You should simply delegate it.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t start your website on your own or try to figure it all out as I did.

I’m saying that…

As the CEO of your business, you have to be intentional and think about how you are spending your time and energy.  

You don’t want to spend hours trying to put a website together when you’re not a web designer.

For the sake of your mental space and your own peace. Recognize when something is not your forte, and delegate it.

 

If you know that you can be able to delegate your web design to someone who can do a better job than you, then make the investment.

 

Stop wasting hours getting overwhelmed and frustrated. You’re actually losing money by not investing, because you can use those hours to start writing content that will drive traffic to your soon to launch website and will help you get more clients.

 

Because remember you can’t just create it and they will come.  You also have to do the work of getting your website in front of your ideal client. 

 

But I completely understand if you don’t have the funds right now to invest in a designer. But don’t let the “money” excuse to hold you back from allocating your resources and move to your next level. 

 

Remember you are the only one in control of the ROI that you desire from any investment you make for yourself and your business.
